Feminized seeds are recommended for beginners as they are easy to grow and maintain, and there is no need to worry about your female plants getting pollinated. They also remove the hassle of removing male plants.
Feminized seeds are produced by causing the monoecious condition in a female plant. The resulting seeds are identical to the female parent as they contain the same set of genes.
The male plant produces pollen, which can be carried by wind or by a breeder to the female flower’s receptive stigmas. This results in hundreds if not thousands of “regular” seeds.
Regular seeds and feminized seeds are identical, but regular will produce both male and female cannabis plants, while feminized will only produce female plants.
If you are planting cannabis for buds, then you have to identify and remove the male plants or separate them from females before pollination unless you want seeds.
If the seeds are exposed to humidity or light for long periods, they will not germinate as they will be internally damaged. Always store your seeds in a cool, dry place to extend their shelf life as you get ready to use them.
The seeds will remain dormant, and when you are finally ready to plant, all you have to do is soak them overnight. It’s also essential to protect the seeds from being crushed as cracked seeds may fail to germinate.

Most cannabis plants only begin flowering as the light they get daily starts reducing. When grown indoors, the grower can control when the plant starts flowering by reducing the number of hours the plant receives light. Outdoors, flowering begins when the sun starts setting earlier as the season changes from summer to autumn.
With autoflowering seeds, you don’t have to worry about the amount of light they receive as they flower automatically.
Autoflowering seeds produce plants that flower automatically regardless of the amount of light the plants get daily.
Feminized seeds only produce female plants, best if you are growing cannabis for buds and don’t want the hassle of identifying and removing male plants.
Regular seeds produce both male and female plants. If you want more seeds, these are the seeds for you. If you wish to have more buds, you have to separate the male plants before pollination occurs.
